Tennis icon Novak Djokovic and his companions are now a subject of enormous criticism from all across the world. The world no. 1 recently hosted a charity tournament name the ‘Adria Tour’ in the cities of of Belgrade and Zadar last weekend, which has backfired hugely. Although Djokovic’s coach Goran Ivanišević recently claimed that the event had clearance from the Serbian and Croatian government, lack of restrictions in the tournament has been the result of multiple COVID-19 cases. The host Djokovic and his wife, and three more players Grigor Dimitrov, Borna Ćorić and Viktor Troicki all have contracted the virus. Meanwhile, Twitter is filled up with savage reprimands towards the Serbian tennis star, as the witty hashtag ‘#Djokovid’ gets trending.
Since Dimitrov becoming the first positive case from the event, the final match between Djokovic and Rublev was dropped, and the rest of the players were also put to test. Now with two more players Ćorić and Troicki confirmed to have contracted the virus, the global Tennis fandom has become furious on Djokovic’s irresponsibility on hosting a tournament and also attending a late night party with other players, while professional tennis itself isn’t returning to action until August.
From revered tennis stars around the world tweeting their opinion on the incident, to journalists and netizens getting the #Djokovid hashtag up to trending with savage tweets and memes, below here are some of the best reactions on Djokovic and his blunder of the event and partying.
Prayers up to all the players that have contracted Covid – 19. Don’t @ me for anything I’ve done that has been ‘irresponsible’ or classified as ‘stupidity’ – this takes the cake. https://t.co/lVligELgID

2020 is so upside down that nick kyrgios is making perfect sense and novak djokovic is doing outrageously silly things

The Adria Tour became a real-life Greek tragedy for Djokovic: he was the protagonist, he thought it was well-intentioned, but his hubris meant he lost touch with reality and caused his downfall. And with a sad 2020 twist: public health was risked. It was frankly indefensible.

Your hubris and idea of invincibility caused this ! No other explanation . very sad how reckless & careless this event was ! What will happen if kids attending the event get sick? God forbid any deaths . This will impact the rest of your career! #djokovid19 #Djokovic #DjoCovid

Waiting for a statement and the Test results of Novak #Djokovic and team
It might never come. Even if it comes it might be fabricated.
Not even an apology after putting the lives of thousands at stake.
Even an iota of respect (if I had any) I had for this guy is gone.#DjoCovid pic.twitter.com/oVkfUFgoTo

Now waiting for #djokovic 's dad to come out at Roger for #Djokovid testing positive for #coronavirus . And his #NoleFam to join the wagon. I don't know how but somehow his dad will find fault with Roger for everything.
One thing is proved: trophies ain't everything. #AdriaTour

What @DjokerNole thinks about vaccine: I am opposed to vaccination and I wouldn’t want to be forced by someone to take a vaccine in order to be able to travel. But if it becomes compulsory, what will happen? I will have to make a decision. #DjoCovid
