Jasprit Bumrah has been a beast since his return to the national side last year in August. On Wednesday, the pacer became the new world No.1 bowler in tests, dethroning his teammate Ravichandran Ashwin, following an impressive match-winning performance against England in the Vizag test.
Bumrah is only the fourth player in the history of ICC rankings to become world No.1 across all formats.
Jasprit Bumrah shares a cryptic Instagram story
Since his return to the national side, the Ahmedabad-born cricketer has been a revelation. He led the charge in the CWC 2023, bowling economical spells. He also shined in the recent test series against South Africa, where he scalped 12 wickets in 2 matches.
Jasprit Bumrah is continuing his dream form in the ongoing test series against England as well. He is the leading wicket-taker with 15 wickets in two tests.
Bumrah shared a cryptic story on Instagram that said “Support vs Congratulations”, moments after becoming the new world No.1. While few cricket fans came in support of the Indian star bowler, few others criticized accusing him of being insecure.
Jasprit Bumrah missed a majority of international cricket due to an injury, including the ICC T20 WC in Australia and the other important series at home. He was trolled heavily questioning his commitment to the national side as many accused him of playing only IPL for money. “Ab toh sharam karle Bumrah”, which means, Have some shame, Bumrah, was used frequently by the fans because of his absence from the national side.

Jasprit Bumrah posting some harsh truth about life.
At times we fail as fans but most importantly we fail as humans. This can be a lesson to support our players & people during the bad days more than the good days ❤️ pic.twitter.com/7gUHskP5bw

Jasprit Bumrah's Instagram story..so fitting.
He is clearly hurt with all the trolling and lack of support he had when he was injured. Well done Bumrah..glad you indirectly called it out.
If you can't support a player in his tough times, don't be a hypocrite in his success. pic.twitter.com/jIjlaGwwqh

The Instagram story of Jasprit Bumrah depicts the reality of all of us. Support always stays minimal or zilch whereas congratulations plenty, majority of it unwanted. So without looking for the support, do your hardwork everyday. We can't change mindset of people surrounding us. pic.twitter.com/c5ZGNqzqbn
