Treesa and Gayatri, who had recently won their maiden BWF Super 300 title at the Syed Modi International in Lucknow, started the tournament with a narrow loss to the world number one pair Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning of China. However, they bounced back with a win against the Malaysian duo Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan in their second match, keeping their semifinal hopes alive. Despite their efforts, the Japanese pair proved too strong, and Treesa and Gayatri finished third in their group with just one point from three matches.
