Travis Head continues to torment the Indian bowling attack by scoring his ninth Test century during the third Test at the Gabba in Brisbane. Head’s resilient and aggressive innings came at a critical moment for Australia, who were struggling at 75 for 3 when he arrived at the crease. Demonstrating a mix of composure and aggression, Head stabilized the Australian innings and then launched a counterattack that left the Indian bowlers reeling.
Travis Head’s sublime form continues
Head’s innings was marked by a series of well-timed boundaries, beginning with a powerful shot off Nitish Kumar Reddy to reach the boundary, followed by another off Jasprit Bumrah. By lunch, he had already started to turn the tide in Australia’s favour. Post-lunch, Head’s aggressive approach became more evident as he took on India’s spinners, particularly Ravindra Jadeja, whom he hammered for two consecutive boundaries in the 55th over.
Reaching his fifty in just 71 balls, Head showed no signs of slowing down. His continued assault on the Indian bowlers saw him reach his century in just 115 balls, marking his second consecutive hundred in the series following his match-winning 140-run knock in Adelaide. This century not only helped Australia recover from a precarious situation but also established them in a strong position in the match.
