Japanese international and Marseille right back Sakai is currently drawing interest from Champions League runners up, Tottenham.
After missing out on a chance to win their first trophy under Mauricio Pochettino last week, Tottenham are keen on improving their defensive options.
The North London side spent almost no money last summer and despite that managed to seal a top 4 finish while also surprising everyone by reaching a Champions League final. Between this, the club now have a world class stadium at their disposal.
With the future of the club looking really bright going forward, the management currently are considering improving their right back options in order to further elevate the squad.
And according to Sky Sports, Tottenham are currently keen on securing a deal for Marseille’s right back Sakai. The 29-year-old Japanese international has made 122 appearances for the French side and also been to two world cups with Japan.
While the player looks to meet all requirements that Pochettino is looking for, the only catch that remains is that the board’s main priority right now is signing under 23 players.
But this will not prevent them from keeping a constant eye on the player. The interest in him will become a serious one in case Pochettino is set to miss out on his primary targets.
It has also been informed that the club are ready to listen to offers for both Serge Aurier and Kieran Trippier.
