Virat Kohli, the star batter of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), continues to be a force to reckon with in cricket, despite his advancing age. This sentiment is echoed by former Australian player and coach Tom Moody, who lauded Kohli’s commitment to training and his exceptional performance on the field.
Tom Moody lauds Virat Kohli’s commitment towards the game
Kohli’s dedication to fitness and training is noteworthy. Even though he is not as young as he once was, his agility and energy on the field remain unparalleled. Moody highlighted Kohli’s extraordinary effort in the match against Punjab Kings, where he ran in from the deep, threw himself to the ground, and managed to make a crucial throw from that position. This level of commitment and agility is remarkable for a player who is not in his early twenties anymore.
“It’s quite remarkable, especially considering he’s not the same as the vintage Virat Kohli, but he’s also not 21 anymore; he’s 30. So, that’s brilliant what he’s done there,” Moody said.
“Running in from the deep, throwing himself to the ground, and managing to make the throw from that position is no easy feat. That’s something we’ve definitely taken into consideration. It’s truly extraordinary,” Tom Moody said.

In addition to his fielding skills, Kohli’s batting prowess continues to shine. In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, he scored 634 runs at an average of 70.44 in 12 matches. His effective slog-sweep has been particularly impactful, helping him counter spinners in the middle overs. Last night against PBKS, he scored a blistering 92 off 47 balls, contributing significantly to RCB’s total score.
“He’s not just a fielder; he’s also contributed with the bat, scoring 92 runs and spending considerable time out in the middle. Despite the physical exertion, he’s always running around in the field like no one else. In the middle of the innings of that second innings he still managed to display the focus, enthusiasm, fitness, and agility required to execute a run-out like that,” Moody added.
With Kohli in outstanding form, RCB have gained late momentum in their season, winning four consecutive games after losing six in a row. They have moved up to eighth place with two matches remaining to keep their modest playoff aspirations alive.
