Indian wrestler World Championship 2019 Silver medalist Deepak Punia was eliminated by 2018 World Champion, USA’s David Taylor in the semi-final of 86kg freestyle bout in the ongoing Olympic Games in Tokyo.

David Taylor has started aggressively putting pressure on the Indian wrestler. The contest was a one-sided one as at one point the score saw 5-0. Eventually, Taylor maintained the momentum he gained early on in the bout.

He made a clean sweep as he won the high-stakes bout with 10-0 score. Punia could not survive 1 round against the 2018 World Champion.

In the previous rounds, Deepak had beaten Nigeria’s Ekerekeme Agiomor in the quarter-final by 12-1 and China’s Lin Zushen by 6-3 in the opening round. While David Taylor secured wins against Ali Shabanau of Belarus and San Marino’s Myles Nazem Amine. He is set to face Iran’s Hassan Yazdani in the Final.
