Jasprit Bumrah’s performance in the recently concluded Test series Down Under has been one of the major stories of the last week. So it’s only natural that it’s leading the front pages of newspapers across India. However, Times of India made a mistake with their picture selection on Wednesday, by accidentally putting the photo of a Sheikh instead of Jasprit Bumrah.

TOI accidentally used the photo of a Sheikh instead of Jasprit Bumrah in the paper on Wednesday.

Jasprit Bumrah had a phenomenal Test series against Australia where the top-ranked ODI bowler, picked up 21 wickets, and finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker along with Australia’s Nathan Lyon in the Test series. He bowled 157.1 overs – the maximum by any fast bowler. He also had a heavy work-load in 2018 where he delivered 511.3 overs across the three formats – the maximum for any fast bowler and the second only to Lyon.

The unfortunate mistake made by Times of India was picked up by a cricket enthusiast on Reddit.

Following the Test series, Jasprit Bumrah has been rested from the ODI leg of the Australian tour and the limited-overs tour of New Zealand that follows. It is a good move by the selectors keeping in mind the grueling schedule ahead of the IPL in March, the World Cup and the World Test Championship that follows after.
