The Indian Racing Festival (IRF) is back, and this time, it’s all about speed, adrenaline, and fierce competition. The Indian Racing League (IRL), an integral part of the festival, promises heart-pounding action as six city-based teams battle it out over five rounds.
All you need to know about Indian Racing Festival 2024
The IRL breaks new ground by being the world’s first gender-neutral franchise-based racing league. Each of the six teams features two Indian and two foreign racers, including at least one female driver. This inclusive approach aims to celebrate talent regardless of gender.
Get ready for high-octane racing with a star-studded lineup. Indian racers Akhil Rabindra and Nikhil Bohra share the track with Swiss driver Neel Jani and other motorsport talents from India and abroad. Keep an eye out for returning favourites like Fabienne Wolhwend and Gabriel Jilkova, who aim to match Sarah Moore’s historic achievement as the first female race winner in IRL history.
Kolkata steps onto the racing scene with the Kolkata Royal Tigers. Led by former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly, this team adds excitement and anticipation to the league. The roar of the Royal Tigers echoes through the circuits as they make their debut.
The action kicks off at the Madras International Circuit (MIC) on August 24-25. But that’s not all! Brace yourselves for India’s first-ever night race at the Chennai Formula Racing Circuit on August 31-September 1. The floodlights will illuminate the track as engines rev and tyres screech in the darkness.
