A temporary erected stage at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium collapsed on Saturday. A search operation was launched at the site immediately after the accident. At least eight people were injured and two others were rescued safely. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported.
The incident happened near Gate Number 2 of the stadium, where some work was underway. A team of Delhi Police and fire tenders reached the spot as soon as they received information about the incident.

A pandal, installed near Gate Number 2 of Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, collapsed on Saturday. The incident happened when the labourers were on lunch, a security guard said, adding that there had not been a heavy impact. Personnel of Delhi Fire Services were carrying out a search and rescue operation at the site.
Commenting on the incident, DCP South, Ankit Chauhan, said, “The incident happened at around 11 am today. One pandal, which was under preparation at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium at Gate Number 2, fell. Initiatially, nearly 12 people were suspected to be trapped.”
“All were removed and were taken to AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) for treatment,” the DCP said adding, “As of now, no fatality has been reported. A team of police, fire and ambulance were there on the spot for other rescue efforts.”
