Team India’s official sponsor for the Tokyo Olympic Games next year has been announced to be the INOX Group of Companies, the Indian Olympic Association (IOC) revealed on Thursday.
The INOX Group and IOA have entered into a partnership agreement that will see the Team India’s promotion through the group’s renowned entertainment multiplex chain, the INOX Leisure Limited. The news was aired on the official Twitter handle of Team India.

“The INOX Group has always assigned priority to India’s all-round progress. We are honoured and privileged to be able to support India’s Olympic dream through this prestigious association with the Indian Olympic Association,” Mr. Siddharth Jain, the INOX Group director said in a statement.
“We look forward to the Indian contingent scaling new heights in the next Olympics,” Jain added.
“In addition, the partnership agreement will further support Team India’s promotions through the Group’s entertainment company, Inox Leisure Ltd, allowing a larger audience to experience and identify the spirit of “Ek India Team India” at its distinct multiplex properties around the country,” a statement from the INOX Group further added.
Established as Oxygen Co. Pvt. Ltd all the way back in 1963 by Devendra Kumar Jain in Pune, INOX Group deals in Industrial Gas, Cryogenic Engineering, Wind Energy Solution and more via a number of group companies. They have previously been in partnership with a number of cricket, football, basketball, badminton and table tennis events.
“We are happy to announce this partnership with INOX Group which will be beneficial for all our athletes and the organisation,” said Rajeev Mehta, the secretary general of the IOA.
“I would like to thank INOX Group and Mr. Jain for showing their support for Team India, even under the current circumstances,” the secretary general added.
The Tokyo Olympics was originally scheduled to be held this year, but with the onset of the novel Coronavirus pandemic, the grand event was pushed back a year, and will now take place between 23rd July and 8th August in 2021.
Over 70 athletes from the country have already qualified for Tokyo, with more to secure their berths in the forthcoming qualifiers.
