BCCI Honorary Acting Secretary Amitabh Choudhary announced the 15-member squad for the ICC World Cup which starts from 30th May in England and Wales.

One unusual name in the Indian squad was all-rounder Vijay Shankar, many think he made it to the squad because of his ‘Three-dimensional qualities’, but not everyone is convinced.

Former English cricket star Kevin Pietersen isn’t convinced with Vijay Shankar’s ability and said that he has seen far better guys suitable for India’s No.4 position.

I haven’t seen enough of Vijay Shankar to warrant a No. 4 slot for India in the World Cup. I have seen some great players bat at No. 4 for India and sadly, Shankar seems far away from it. Batting at No. 4 is difficult and even more so in English conditions. It is almost like Shankar and Jadhav have made it to the India squad because they can bowl,” Pietersen said.

India has been struggling with finding a suitable No.4 position guy for a while now. It was expected by many that Ambati Rayudu would make the squad as he was in a terrific position, but before the start of the IPL, his performance started to decline and ultimately Vijay Shankar was picked to represent the national side.
