Indian shuttlers Parupalli Kashyap and Mithun Manjunath kicked off their respective 2022 Taipei Open Super 300 men’s singles campaigns on winning notes, while Malvika Bansod suffered an early exit after losing her first round outing on Wednesday.

Kashyap made his victorious start against Taiwan’s Chi Yu Jen, defeating the local star 24-22, 21-10. While the first game saw a close contest between the two, Kashyap made the second game into a one sided affair to secure his berth into the second round, where he will be up against Lee Chia-hao.

Mithun Manjunath, who pulled off a major upset by defeating Kidambi Srikanth in the opening round of Singapore Open last week, made easy work of Danish shuttler Kim Bruun, defeating him 21-17, 21-15 with dominating performance. His next outing will be against Japan’s Kodai Naraoka.

On the other hand, Malvika Bansod suffered another premature exit, losing against Liang Ting Yu of Taiwan who defeated her 10-21, 21-15, 21-14. Despite taking the lead in the first game, Bansod was outperformed by Liang in the next two. The defeat marks Bansod’s second consecutive first round exit, after losing to compatriot Saina Nehwal at the Singapore Open.
