The Indian cricket team, fresh off their T20 World Cup victory, faces an unexpected challenge: being stranded in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl. After a thrilling final against South Africa, where India secured a seven-run win, the team now finds itself caught in the aftermath of the storm.

The Caribbean city of Barbados has been hit by Hurricane Beryl, leading to a shutdown of the airport. The latest pictures from Barbados show downpours and strong winds, resulting in cancelled flights and a complete shutdown of the city. The airport closure has caused a delay in the return home of the new T20 world champions.

India clinch T20 World Cup after 17 years

On June 29, India defeated South Africa in a pulsating final at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. This victory marked India’s return to T20 World Cup glory after a gap of 17 years. Captain Rohit Sharma lifted the T20 World Cup trophy, joining MS Dhoni as the second Indian captain to achieve this feat.

Virat Kohli’s knock of 76 in the final earned him the “Player of the Match” title. Jasprit Bumrah, India’s fast bowler, was crowned “Player of the Tournament” for his impressive performance throughout the tournament.

With the airport shut down and flights cancelled, Team India and media personnel from India are currently stuck in Barbados. A curfew has been imposed in the city from 6 pm, and all stores and offices are closed. The team is currently staying at the Hilton Hotel.
