Team India, along with former captain Virat Kohli, has already landed in Australia for their preparations for the upcoming 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Coincidentally, Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is also on an official visit to the Land Down Under. During his visit, Kohli came into the limelight and S Jaishankar met Australian Deputy PM Richard Merlace on Monday, presenting him with a bat signed by the former captain himself.

Richard Merlace informed fans through social media about receiving Virat Kohli’s signed bat, which was followed up with a storm among the netizens. Both India and Australia are members of the Quad organization, which also includes the US and Japan.

Aside from cricket having a massive fan following in both countries, India and Australia share a rich history in the sport, and S Jaishankar’s gift to the Australian Deputy PM during the meeting is ornamental to the relationship between the two nations.

“A pleasure to host Dr S Jaishankar here in Canberra. There are many things which bind us, including our love of cricket. Today, he surprised me with a signed bat from cricket legend Virat Kohli,” Merlace wrote on Twitter.

Cosidering Virat Kohli’s on-field endeavors, the former skipper is looking in great form. He has returned to his form from the Asia Cup and now he seems to be enjoying it. Against Afghanistan, King Kohli scored his 71st century after a long wait of 1020 days. He also scored runs from his bat in the limited-overs series against Australia and South Africa. Now the next big challenge before Kohli is the T20 World Cup match against Pakistan on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
