Team India have announced the squad for the T20I series against England where three new players have earned their maiden call-up, namely – Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan and Rahul Tewatia. Yadav, who has been consistent with the bat for a long time and played key roles for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2020 and in the domestic cricket too, has finally got his reward.
However, he is excited to learn from captain Virat Kohli. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav has had to wait for a long as he has always been overlooked for the selection. But he never gave hope and he was finally rewarded for his patience as well.
“I have already started thinking about how I am going to spend time with all the greats over there. I will get to learn so much from our captain Virat Kohli and then there is Rohit Sharma, everyone, A-Z all the players. I am really looking forward to spend quality time, grasp as much as I can,” Suryakumar told Sports Today.
Suryakumar had smashed 480 runs for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 2020 and helped his side win their record-fifth title. But he wasn’t selected for the Australia tour. However, this chance might work for him considering the upcoming T20 World Cup which will take place later this year.
“There were a few instances during the IPL where I used to dream about winning games for India and I think the opportunity for me has come at the right time. It’s on me how I take it and how I make full use of it. Not thinking about too much, I would say, I would go one step at a time, take one game at a time. I have a few plan. Obviously, I would love to go ahead and explore in this series,” Suryakumar Yadav again shared.
Notably, India and England will play a five-match Twenty20 International series in Ahmedabad from March 12. All the games will take place at the newly-made Sardar Patel Cricket Stadium in Motera after the final two Tests.
