Former India batsman Suresh Raina dropped out of the Chennai Super Kings Squad for IPL 13 and returned back home in a shocking move. Further details were divulged later as a tragic attack on Raina’s family in Punjab by robbers unravelled itself. Raina spoke up about the dire consequences of the attack with a series of tweets.

Raina’s family, residing in the Pathankot district of Punjab were victims of a robbery attempt. The robbers issued serious injuries to the family who were reportedly sleeping on the terrace during the incident.

Raina’s uncle Ashok Kumar passed away after sustaining serious head injuries. The 33-year-old revealed the status of the other members of his family who are currently battling for their life.

“What happened to my family is Punjab was beyond horrible. My uncle was slaughtered to death, my bua & both my cousins had severe injuries. Unfortunately, my cousin also passed away last night after battling for life for days. My bua is still very very critical & is on life support,” Raina said on Twitter.

“Till date we don’t know what exactly had happened that night & who did this. I request @PunjabPoliceInd to look into this matter. We at least deserve to know who did this heinous act to them. Those criminals should not be spared to commit more crimes. @capt_amarinder @CMOPb,” he added.

The player issued a grim update after confirming that his cousin lost his life as well along with his uncle. One member of the family is currently in a grave state and on life-support. Raina tagged the official handle of Punjab police and issued an appeal to find the people behind this act.

According to the police, the robbery attempt was carried out by three to four individuals of the feared  “Kale Kachhewala” gang,  but there have been no developments since.
