Sunil Gavaskar, in his column in the TOI, wrote about how impressed he has been with the approach of the young Delhi Capitals side. The Delhi side, formerly known as the Delhi Daredevils, has entered the playoffs for the first time since 2012 and has also won the eliminator. For a young side to do this, Delhi has been playing really well.
The Delhi Capitals will play the Chennai Super Kings in the second qualifier to get into the finals, to play the Mumbai Indians, on Sunday. For the Delhi Capitals, the season has been more than wonderful, as they won 9 out of their 14 league matches. Their season was built on some brilliant performances and some forgettable blowouts.
Their young side has been impressive and the way they have played a fearless brand of cricket, they have played some unbelievable cricket, wrote Gavaskar.
One thing that the Delhi batting has been criticised for is their habit of throwing their wickets away. However, Gavaskar feels that they are learning from their mistakes and they are learning very fast.
Talking about the second qualifier, the little master compared the two teams. While Delhi has a frenzied look about them, Chennai is led by a very cool captain in MS Dhoni. The casual and hardly shown excitement is what sets CSK apart, the exception being the excitement of Tahir taking a wicket.
According to Gavaskar, Dhoni is the only man after Kapil Dev and Sachin Tendulkar, for whom any venue is like a home. Vizag is one of the special venues where Dhoni has shown what he is capable of, and Gavaskar feels that this venue could well be in to witness another Dhoni special.
