Steve Smith, captain of Rajasthan Royals, played his last match for the team in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 on Tuesday as he takes his rightful position in the Australian World Cup squad. The match was against Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore.

In an Instagram post, Steve Smith wished his team all the very best for the remaining matches of the tournament. He wrote the following :

“Thank you @rajasthanroyals for the last 7 weeks. I’ve enjoyed every minute of this ipl and I’m glad to be involved with such a great franchise with so many wonderful people. Good luck in Delhi boys!  #hallabol”

Smith injured his elbow back in January and had to undergo surgery because of it. There was some speculation as to how ready he is with the World Cup approaching.

However, Steve mentioned that his elbow was not something of concern at the moment. He said the following :

“All good, I just landed on it quite heavily, more heavily than I had landed on it previously.

From the surgery I have still got some scar tissue and stuff in there and just the impact of the landing affected it a little bit, but there is nothing wrong with it, all good.

I am throwing at probably 70 or 80 per cent. A couple of weeks and I should be back to throwing at 100 per cent.”
