Former Indian pace bowler S Sreesanth is doing all the things he can do to get back into the competitive cricket after seven long years. The Kerala pacer would have had a promising career had he not involved himself in the infamous spot-fixing scandal during the 2013 edition of the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL).

With his return, the speedster also hopes to play in the next 50-over World Cup which is scheduled to take place in 2023. Along with Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan, Sreesanth was also arrested for spot-fixing by Mumbai police in the sixth season of the league. However, the Supreme court lifted the life ban from all form of cricket from the 37-year-old.

But, the BCCI wasn’t too happy with this as they refused to budge from the same. However, last year in August, BCCI ombudsman DK Jain, got his life ban reduced to seven years which made him eligible to play for the country from September this year.

Notably, the pace spearhead has been working under the guidance from Tim Grover, who is a reputed NBA physical and mental training coach. He has also worked with famous personalities like Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. However, Sreesanth revealed that he takes lessons from Grover since early morning 5:30 to 8:30 thrice a week and train for five hours from 1:30 pm with Kerala U-23 players and Ranji players as well.

“Grover was one of the biggest names in NBA. I attend Grover’s online sessions from 5.30 am to 8.30 am thrice a week. In the afternoon, I train from 1.30pm to 6 pm at the indoor nets in Ernakulam with a lot of Kerala U-23 players and Ranji Trophy players like Sachin Baby,” Sreesanth said as quoted by Times of India.

When he was asked if he would put up his name for the IPL auctions in 2021, he shared that if he performs well, he indeed will put up his name. Sreesanth also admitted that he told himself he would play in the league again and he is confident of being the match-winner again. He has 169 wickets from 90 international games. In the Indian Premier League, he has played for Kings XI Punjab, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, and Rajasthan Royals before getting arrested.

“There are teams which will be interested and I have always told myself that I will again play IPL. That’s where I was thrown out and I will make sure I am back on that platform, win matches.” he concluded.
