All sportspersons that have been infected by the novel Coronavirus

As the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak turned pandemic, many sporting fixtures, leagues and events all around the world saw cancellation or postponement cancelled as a preventive measure from further contamination. However, in an unfortunate turn of events, many iconic faces of the sports fraternity across the globe have been tested positive of the infection, as now many players and teams are constantly being put into quarantine and self-isolation. Below here are all the sportspersons who have tested positive of Coronavirus.

  • Football:

Juventus defender Daniele Rugani was found positive of Coronavirus earlier. Now, his teammate and club talisman Paolo Dybala has also tested positive, along with Blaise Matuidi.

Former AC Milan legend and football icon and Paolo Maldini and his son Daniel Maldini were found to have been infected with the virus.

Six Sampdoria players- Manolo Gabbiadini, Albin Ekdal, Antonino La Gumina, Morten Thorsby, Fabio Depaoli and Bartosz Bereszynski tested positive.

German Pezzella, Patrick Cutrone and Dusan Vlahovic, all who play for Fiorentina, were found infected.

Callum Hudson-Odoi, the young Chelsea winger was tested positive.

Mikel Arteta, the current Arsenal gaffer has also been infected with the virus.

Marouane Fellaini, former Manchester United star had positive test results.

James Bolton, Andy Cannon, Sean Raggett and Haji Mnoga, four Postsmouth FC footballers were found to have contracted the virus.

Hanover 96 defender Timo Hübers tested positive, along with Luca Kilian who plays for SC Paderborn 07.

Valencia players Ezequiel Garay and Eliaquim Mangala gave positive test results.

Chinese international Wu Lei, who plays for Espanyo was reported to have contracted the virus.

South Korea international Hyun-Jun Suk has been infected.

Mexican football league president Enrique Bonilla was tested positive.

  • Basketball:

Utah Jazz centre Rudy Gobert was the first NBA star who tested positive, followed by his teammate Donovan Mitchell.

Detroit Pistons player Christian Wood was the next NBA player who gave positive results.

Four players of Brooklyn Nets players including Kevin Durant have been infected.

Marcus Smart of Boston Celtics has also been infected, and two unnamed LA Lakers players have also shown positive results.

Real Madrid’s basketball team player Trey Thompkins was found infected, which resulted in both the basketball and football team to be put under quarantine.

  • Cricket:

Former Scottish cricker and captain Majid Haq announced his positive test results.

  • Tennis:

Australian tennis star Bernard Tomic was found to be infected.

  • Olympics:

Although the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics is still planned to go ahead smoothly in July-August, Japan’s Olympic committee deputy chief Kozo Tashima was found infected from the virus.

  • Athletics:

An athlete who participated at the Mooloolaba Triathlon in Australia was found to be infected.

  • Hockey:

An unnamed player of NHL club Ottawa Senators was reported for testing positive.

  • American Football:

Sean Payton, coach of the New Orleans Saints had tested positive.

  • Baseball:

Denny Larrondo, a 17-year old New York Yankees player, was the first MLB player who was found to be infected from the virus. Another unnamed minor league player was also reported to have tested positive.
