The ICC cricket world cup 2019 scheduled to take place in England and Wales is less than three months away and the excitement and buzz is growing with each passing day.

Team India has yet to release its world cup squad, and fans will only know about it after the cash-rich Indian Premier League is over. However, there have been talks that Rishabh Pant will be over Dinesh Karthik for the 2019 World Cup.

Pant has been on a tremendous form ever since last year’s IPL where he was the second highest run-scorer, having scored 684 runs in 14 games. He then got the opportunity to play for India A and then went on to score a test hundred against England at Oval. He also impressed fans in India’s tour of Australia where he scored 350-runs and was the second highest run scorer in that series.

He made his ODI-debut for India against West Indies last year and has played three ODI matches so far. He has also been picked for the ODI series against Australia which will start from 2nd March 2019 in Hyderabad. He was picked over Dinesh Karthik.

However, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly is unsure if Rishabh Pant will fit into the current world cup squad. But Ganguly feels that Rishabh Pant is definitely “one for the future”.

He has to fit in. I don’t know whether he would be able to fit in at this moment. So it depends. But he’s obviously a player for the future,” former Indian captain said.
