Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly recently revealed that Rohit Sharma was never keen to take up the captaincy role during the former’s tenure as the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

It is needless to mention that the goal of any ambitious cricket player is to lead their country one day as captain. It’s not easy to be the leader. A lot of players aspire to experience the honor of leading India but Rohit Sharma wasn’t keen about it.

Rohit Sharma became the captain of India following the conclusion of Virat Kohli’s term. The batting superstar, however, wasn’t interested in taking up captaincy because he was playing a lot of cricket and had a lot on his plate as per Sourav Ganguly.

“Rohit [Sharma] didn’t want the captaincy because there was a lot of pressure on playing all formats – it had gone to a stage where I told him you have to say yes or I will announce your name. I am happy he has taken it now he is leading from the front and you guys can check the results,” the former India captain said in an interview with Kolkata TV.
