Sourav Ganguly reportedly discharged from hospital after treatment for COVID-19

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly, who was double vaccinated was previously hospitalised after testing COVID-19 positive. Now, he has been reportedly discharged from the hospital in Kolkata after his COVID-19 treatment. It has been noted that Ganguly will remain in home isolation for 14 days. Sources said that Ganguly’s test results returned negative on Friday and all his parameters are normal. According to news agency PTI, Sourav Ganguly has not been infected with the Omicron variant.

“We have discharged Ganguly this afternoon. He will have to be in home isolation for the next fortnight under doctors’ observation. After that the next course of treatment will be decided,” a hospital official told PTI.

The 49-year-old was rushed to the Woodlands Multispeciality hospital on Monday night as a precautionary measure after his RT-PCR test came positive for Covid-19. He received the “Monoclonal Antibody Cocktail therapy” after admission. It has been also reported that Ganguly first experienced mild fever on Sunday before returning a positive test.

Ganguly has been travelling considerably , taking part in media interactions. Around the time of the T20 World Cup, the former India captain went to the UAE and more recently has been taking part in several media interactions.

Not too long ago, the BCCI president also took part in an BCCI AGM Festival match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, where Ganguly’s Board President XI lost to Jay Shah’s Secretary XI.

Ganguly was admitted to hospital twice earlier this year and underwent emergency angioplasty after having some cardiac issues. His elder brother Snehasish Ganguly had also tested positive for COVID-19 early this year.
