The fans have witnessed multiple biopics of Indian cricketers in the past. Now, the former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly confirmed that he is set to have a biopic of his own.
Sourav Ganguly confirms the shooting of his biopic
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President, Sourav Ganguly had previously denied multiple reports of his biopic. But this time, Dada himself confirmed that the work on his biopic is in progress. The shooting of the film will start after the pre-production work is completed. Several details have been kept confidential.
It is been noted that the biopic will be a big-budget Bollywood film. Sources say it is being made under a big banner-production house with a budget of around Rs 200 to Rs.250 crore being planned for the same.
Ganguly recently spoke to News18 and revealed: “Yes, I have agreed to the biopic. It will be in Hindi but it is not possible to say the name of the director now. It will take a few more days for arranging everything.”
The script is currently being written and the production house has had multiple meetings with Ganguly.
Ranbir Kapoor is the favourite to play Ganguly’s role
It is being heard that popular Bollywood actor, Ranbir Kapoor is the ‘hot choice’ to play the role of Dada in the biopic and it has almost been finalised. But will be confirmed in the coming days. He has previously also played the role of veteran actor Sanjay Dutt in his biopic.
Ganguly mentioned Ranbir’s name but there are two more actors on the list as well. The entire journey of Sourav Ganguly – till he became the BCCI president will be documented in the biopic.
MS Dhoni’s biopic was a super hit, while former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin also had a biopic. Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar had a documentary in the past.
Currently, a movie is in production about India’s 1983 World Cup victory, where Ranveer Singh is playing the role of former Indian cricket team captain Kapil Dev.
