Ravindra Jadeja might not be a regular in India’s playing XI these days but has not lost his edge and delivers whenever he has the opportunity, according to former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly. The left-arm cricketer almost took India to the final of this year’s ICC World Cup, while the whole cricketing world enjoyed his performance. And last week, in the first Test against the Windies the utility player once again proved himself as one the best allrounders in current world cricket.
Ganguly, who questioned his selection in the team ahead of R. Ashwin lauded Jadeja for his performance in a column for the Times of India,
“One must also mention the efforts of Ravindra Jadeja. He didn’t lose belief even though he hasn’t been a regular in the side lately — be it in ODIs or Tests. He came out and played a terrific knock in the World Cup semi-final and in the first Test too, he delivered when India really needed it,”.
The Saurashtra allrounder, made his international debut back in 2009 and has played 42 Tests and T20Is each along with 156 ODIs with 3807 runs and over 400 wickets after his name. He was a regular face in the squad until the arrival of the spin duo of ‘Kul- Cha’ (Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav). However, in the first Test at Antigua he played a solid knock of 58 at No.8 when his side was struggling to end the first innings for a respectable score. India turned around in the second innings after a Ajinkya Rahane ton helped them to set a mammoth target of 419.
