Sonal Patel won the first set which was intense but proceeded to lose three sets in a row to mark her exit from the competition. She aimed to stage a late comeback and take the game into the final set by avoiding five match points, but ultimately ended in the losing side despite the valiant effort.

She had opened her campaign with a thrilling contest as well. She matched the intensity of China’s Qian Li over the course of five sets that ended 11-9, 3-11, 17-15, 7-11, 4-11 in the women’s singles Class 3 category.
