Sneh Rana’s Historic Bowling Feat in India Women vs. South Africa Women’s Test

In a gripping encounter at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai, Sneh Rana etched her name in cricketing history. The 30-year-old all-rounder became the second Indian woman to claim eight wickets in a single innings during a Women’s Test match. Her remarkable performance against South African women in the one-off Test left fans in awe.

On the morning of Day 3, Rana weaved magic with her off-spin bowling. She dismantled the South African batting lineup, finishing with figures of 8/77 in 25.3 overs. Her scalps included openers Laura Wolvaardt and Anneke Bosch, along with the dangerous half-centurion Sune Luus. Rana’s relentless accuracy and guile spun a web around the Proteas, leaving them all out for 266 runs.

Sneh Rana joined an elite club, following in the footsteps of Neetu David. David achieved this feat back in 1995 during a Test against England Women in Jamshedpur. Rana’s performance now ranks second in the list of best bowling figures for India in Women’s Tests. Neetu David’s 8/53 remains the gold standard.
