Asia Cup’s fate is likely to be decided soon
It has been noted that BCCI and PCB are at odds over the hosting rights of the Asia Cup 2023 and SLC’s president stated that there could be major developments on the competition in the coming week following the conclusion of the IPL 2023.
“We have been invited to witness IPL Play-Offs in India and during that trip, there will be discussions on the Asia Cup 2023. Nothing has been decided yet. But I think the fate of Asia Cup 2023 will be decided over the next week or so,” SLC President Shammi Silva was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
As per reports, the SLC and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have backed BCCI’s idea of moving the ACC event out of Pakistan. Furthermore, the two boards rejected the idea of a hybrid model proposed by PCB chief Najam Sethi for hosting the event in Pakistan and a neutral venue.
However, the ACC is yet to let out an official notice on this regard and could likely make a statement in the coming weeks.
