This serves as an added trouble for the Sri Lankan players who won’t be able to practice ahead of the series. Their mandate quarantine ends on July 12 after returning back from England, the current period is set to be extended, given the current circumstances.

According to Cricbuzz, the series is set to begin from July 16 or 17, instead of July 13 as initially planned. The revised fixture list for the entire six-match series across two formats will be handed over to the BCCI as well as the broadcasters tomorrow.

Two of the Sri Lanka camp’s personnel were tested positive following their tour against England. Batting coach Grant Flower and a team analyst were the ones who were found to have contracted the virus.

The earlier planned schedule saw the tour kick off from July 13 with the first ODI at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The same ground was assigned to host the remainder of the matches as well, concluding with the third T20 on July 25.

Sri Lanka have had quite a rough time in International cricket as of late, and the staggering decline has led the side to a new low. The team were utterly outplayed in their limited-overs series against England. The Three Lions convincingly won all of the fixtures and narrowly missed out on securing a whitewash in the ODIs after achieving the feat in the T20 series.

Meanwhile, the Indian camp under the watchful eyes of Rahul Dravid had already begun their practice for the tour. Despite all the off-field chatter regarding the availability of Prithvi Shaw and Devdutt Padikkal for the tour, the duo contested in a couple of intra-squad games.
