Kidambi Srikanth and Sameer Verma were the Indian players remaining in the Korea Open tournament, and they too bowed out of the game soon after losing in the second round. With their elimination, the Indian challenge has come to an end at the Korea Open tournament.

Kidambi Srikanth has been in the news for his lean run at the Hong Kong Open. The shuttler has been struggling to give tough competition to his opponents ever since he reached the finals of India Open back in March. He fails to impress in Korea Open as well; losing to younger and less experienced Kanta Tsuneyama of Japan. The 26-year-old was eliminated 21-14, 21-19 in 36 minutes by the Japanese shuttler. The first round saw Srikanth struggling against Kanta, who scored 6 points consecutively and took the lead. He failed to recover and put up a fight against Kanta in the second round as well, giving him 4 points lead earlier in the game.

Sameer Verma, on the other hand, played quite well in the first round, but eventually could not defeat his opponent Korea’s Kim Donghun in the second round. The game ended in 36 minutes with the scores being 21-19, 21-12. Previously the Korean had also defeated Sourabh, Sameer’s brother to progress in the tournament.
