A group of national-level shooters, comprising of more than 100 athletes, have come forward together to assist in the supply of oxygen to many health centers in Uttar Pradesh.
The outbreak of the second strain of the COVID-19 virus has dealt the highest damage in India. Along with the daily number of cases peaking over 4 lakhs plus over 4000 deaths in the past few days, the country has been suffering from an alarming shortage of oxygen supply.
To aid the country in the distressing hours, the group of shooters have decided to launch an oxygen supply campaign in UP to counter the shortage as well as ensure a timely supply of oxygen to the coronavirus patients in the state.
The group includes the likes of Asutosh Dwiwedi, Pardeep Kumar Singh, Tabish Ahmed, Rahul Soni, Monu Kumar, Harpreet Singh, and Shalender, who hail from UP itself, as well as Delhi and Haryana.
The noble initiative was put into motion on the heels of an appeal from Raj Kumar, CMD, Rodic Consultants and a national-level shooter who urged his fellow athletes to join hands in fighting the pandemic.
“These are unprecedented times as we are witnessing a sharp surge in coronavirus cases across the country. Collaboration will be the key to winning the battle against COVID-19,” said Kumar, “in this endeavour we required volunteers to support us for efficient management of this entire process. I had appealed to all my fellow shooters across India to come forward and support us as volunteers.”
Rodic Consultants has come up with a digital platform to monitor the oxygen supply in UP and to ensure that the cylinders reach the needy patients within time. The platform also has a real-time tracking of the oxygen supplying vehicles to that they can reach the hospital timely in case of emergencies.
In coordination with the Regional Transport Office and Medical Department of Uttar Pradesh, the shooters are involved in gathering and entering data as well as GPS monitoring of the oxygen tankers in the state. The tracking devices are implemented in the facilities.
“Such initiatives will go a long way in alleviating the miseries of coronavirus patients. I urge more people to come forward to join the cause and take all necessary precautions against Covid-19,” Deepak Dubey, coach of Olympics-bound rifle shooter Divyansh Singh Panwar was quoted in a press release.
