The Indian fans are counting on MS Dhoni to deliver significantly in several departments in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup. Along with the fans, the team management also is banking on the wicketkeeper-batsman to contribute both in front of the wickets as well as behind the wickets. Moreover, the former Indian captain’s cricketing brain is also something Virat Kohli will depend on during crunch situations.

MS Dhoni bid adieu to Test cricket way back in 2014, however, he is a regular fixture in the limited overs squad even after relinquishing his captaincy. Dhoni can boast off one of the most loyal fan bases for a cricketer. There also is a certain section of the audience that is very critical of Dhoni’s performances of late and feel that he is past his prime and should retire in order to provide opportunities to younger players such as Rishabh Pant.

However, the conjecture around the veteran’s retirement has bemused Australian spin wizard Shane Warne. The leggie feels there should not be any pressure on Dhoni to retire considering the accolades he has won for India.

Speaking to IANS Warne said “MS Dhoni has been a terrific servant for Indian cricket, he has given his everything to Indian cricket. I can’t believe some people questioned that MS shouldn’t have been there for the World Cup. The thing about retirement is that it is better they say why are you than why don’t you. Dhoni is the only person who knows when the right time is and as a player, you know. And whether that is after the World Cup or five years after the tournament he will know when the right time is. Dhoni can retire whenever he wants because he has been that good,”
