Serie A clubs unanimous in their decision to finish the season

Despite the completion of the season looking bleak from the government’s perspective, all of Serie A’s twenty clubs have voted unanimously in favour of the season to be completed. 

The Lega Serie A held an emergency meeting during which it was decided that rather than replicating the actions of football leagues in Belgium and France, Serie A will look to complete the ongoing season despite the coronavirus pandemic.

The teleconference call, which was intended to discuss the issue of TV rights and finish the schedule.

On the other hand, Italian sports minister  Vincenzo Spadafora had claimed that the government may intervene to end the season if an agreement is not settled upon the medical protocols needed for the resumption of the league while adding that the chances of the league resuming were “increasingly narrow”.

Lega Serie A president Paolo Dal Pino stated “his openness to a dialogue with the government from a constructive and collaborative perspective, obtaining on this position the full agreement of all the clubs”

It was earlier revealed that due to the relaxation of lockdown rules in parts of Italy, four clubs namely Bologna, Parma, Sassuolo, and SPAL could resume training.

As of now, the government has given the green light for the clubs to resume training from May 18 which is one day after the end of lockdown.

Juventus were leading the Serie A table by a single point over Lazio with 12 games left to play.
