Manchester City ace Sergio Aguero has been having a mammoth of a season so far, putting in performance after performance of the highest standards week in, week out. However, making news this time is the Argentine’s father who claims that the forward could return back to his homeland should the call for it come in the near future.
Sergio Aguero del Castillo, fully named, has been touted for a return back to Argentina boyhood club Independiente come summer, his father, Leonel del Castillo, claims. This comes despite the fact that a couple more years remain on his present deal with City.
The Argentina international guided the Etihad outfit to a Carabao Cup earlier this year, which remains on the cusp of a potential quadruple this season after booking FA Cup semis, and Champions League quarters berths while being at the top of the Premier League.
Mundo Deportivo quote Sergio’s father saying:
“He renewed for two more years but if in July he has to come, he comes to play here.”
Emphasis was given on the fact that there had been no communication between the two parties on Sergio’s potential departure from the PL champions.
“The club didn’t get in touch with us. Sergio can not say ‘I want to go back’. You have to see if the club wants it as well,” Leonel went on to add.
Sergio’s father continued that Independiente chairman Hugo Morano “was okay with everything.”
“If somebody calls him, I believe that he’s going to be able to set a date to return,” he concluded.
Sergio has netted 28 times and assisted 7 in 37 games throughout the campaign, with 18 of those goals coming in the Premier League and thereby being in the pole position for the domestic Golden Boot.
