See why ICC trolled Donald Trump for his speech at Motera stadium

The International Cricket Council (ICC) took a dig at US President Donald Trump on Monday, after the 45th president of America failed to pronounce Sachin Tendulkar’s name correctly. After much anticipation Trump arrived in India on Monday and Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed him at the Ahmedabad airport as the duo inaugurated the newly-built Motera Stadium thereafter. And while addressing the crowd at the stadium, Trump failed to pronounce Sachin’s name, calling the master-blaster ‘Soochin Tendolkar’ and skipper Virat Kohli as ‘Virot Kolee’; much to the amused fans!

The massive 110,00-seat Motera Stadium has been renovated from its scratch and entered the record books for being the biggest cricket stadium in the world. So quite easily it deserved a grand opening and Narendra Modi with his American counterpart Donald Trump did just that. The US President took the centre stage and addressed the audience at the jam-packed stadium on the programme named ‘Namaste Trump’.

He thanked India for welcoming him, and while laying heap praise for the turnout he mentioned Bollywood and then to cricket in his speech. However, just a single mispronunciation can turn you into a troll these days! And when speaking about cricket, something which he isn’t sure about, Trump caught the attention of all saying, ‘Soochin’ and ‘Virot’.

Naturally, the netizens started trolling the President and even ICC poked fun at him as he fumbled to spell the simple Indian name. In a video tweeted by cricket’s highest governing board, it can be seen that ICC are modifying Sachin’s name on their website with the caption, “Sach- Such- Satch- Sutch- Sooch- Anyone know?”  They are then seen changing Sachin Tendulkar’s name in the personal information section to Soo-chin and then saving the changes.

With a crowd attendance of one lakh people PM Modi also took the opportunity to thank Trump and his wife Melania for visiting the him in Ahmedabad and for the massive turnout at the event. The US President and his wife are scheduled to travel to Agra in order to visit the Taj Mahal later this day.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani, Governor Acharya Devvrat and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly were also present at the stadium for the event.
