Gill, who plays for Punjab Punjab cricket team in Ranji trophy and Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League, made his ODI debut back in January 2019 against New Zealand. While not getting call ups since making two appearances against the Kiwis, this upcoming series will be Gill’s maiden Test cricket appearance.
However, the 20 year old has been in tremendous form recently. In the first unofficial Test between India A and New Zealand A in Christchurch on Friday, Gill scored a half century and a stunning 204 not out.
Following the closure of the 3 match ODI series on 11th February, the 2 match Test series will start on 21st February at the Basin Reserve cricket ground in Wellington.
