Say Cheese: Yuvraj Singh trolls Jasprit Bumrah for not smiling in photo

Jasprit Bumrah, the jewel of a bowler for Team India, who has been the face of change in the Indian bowling scene. The world no. 1 One Day International format bowler in the ICC ODI Bowling Rankings, Bumrah has recently faced some criticism regarding his fitness. Despite, he silenced his critics, winning both the Polly Umrigar Award and Dilip Sardesai Award at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)’s Annual Awards night yesterday. Still, his social media handle saw a grim Bumrah posing with the awards for a picture. In comes Yuvraj Singh himself, taking a funny dig at him for not smiling!

Yesterday, in his official Instagram account, Jasprit Bumrah posted a picture with the two awards kept on a table in front of him, with the caption: “Grateful and honoured to be taking these two awards home tonight.”

While fans and followers showered him with greetings and compliments, former cricketing icon Yuvi had the most hilarious comment, poking at Bumrah for not smiling in the photo. He wrote: “Jassi has de thoda no ones taking your trophies away! Jokes apart many congratulations you truly deserve”

Along with Yuvraj, Bumrah’s teammate KL Rahul also acknowledged his compatriot.

The Polly Umrigar Award, which includes a citation, a trophy and a cheque for Rs 15 lakh is awarded to the best male International cricketer, while the Dilip Sardesai Award is presented to both the highest Test wicket taker and highest Test run scorer. Both the awards were handed over to Bumrah by Jay Shah, the secretary of BCCI.

Since his red ball debut for the Men in Blues against South Africa in 2018, Bumrah has showcased excellent consistency with the ball. The 26 year old became the first Asian cricketer to secure a 5 wicket haul in the Test series against England, Australia, West Indies and also in his debutant Proteas series.

Bumrah was also praised by the skipper Virat Kohli himself, regarding his time with the bowler in today’s net practice session.

“According to me, he (Bumrah) is the most skillful bowler in the world, you know in any format of the game. And to play against him, he brings match intensity in the nets. I can assure you that.” Kohli spoke in the interview.
