The duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty continue reaching their career milestones and the latest feat of the Indian shuttling pair has been touching the World No. 3 rank in the latest BWF rankings- which is their career-best so far.
Sawtik-Chirag are fresh off their maiden Super 1000 men’s doubles triumph last Sunday, where the CWG gold medallists thrashed Malaysian reigning world champion Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik to win the Indonesia Open, becoming the first from the country to achieve the feat.
Amidst their dream run of 2023- which already includes two World Tour titles and the Swiss Open, as well as the Asia Championships gold, the pair are currently third in the world rankings- at 82331 points behind the No. 1 and No. 2 pairs of Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto and China’s Wang Chang and Liang Weikeng respectively.
In men’s singles, Kidambi Srikanth climbed three places to No. 19 rank and enter the top-20s, just a spot behind compatriot Lakshya Sen who is at No. 18 spot. Meanwhile, HS Prannoy retained his No. 9 spot.
The women’s singles saw P V Sindhu rising to No. 12, while Saina Nehwal moved up to No. 31 and in women’s doubles, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand retained their World No. 16 spot. The mixed category saw Rohan Kapoor and Sikki Reddy climbing two places to No. 33 while Tanisha Crasto and Ishan Bhatnagar went down one place to No. 38.
