Indian shooter Sarabjot Singh made a remarkable impact at the ISSF World Cup 2024 in Munich, Germany, by clinching the gold medal in the men’s 10m air pistol event. This victory not only opened India’s account at the World Cup but also highlighted Singh’s growing stature in the international shooting arena.

Sarabjot Singh’s impressive performance

Singh’s journey to the top of the podium was nothing short of spectacular. He scored 242.7 in the eight-man final, edging out his nearest competitor, Bu Shuaihang of China, by a mere 0.2 points. His performance was even more commendable considering the strong competition, which included the reigning world champion, Bowen Zhang of China, and four-time Olympian, Yusuf Dikec of Turkey.

The 22-year-old shooter had previously topped the qualification round with a score of 588. His consistent performance throughout the tournament demonstrated his ability to perform under pressure and adapt to challenging situations.

Singh’s success at the Munich ISSF World Cup adds to his growing list of achievements. He had won a bronze in the 10m air pistol event at the Asian Shooting Championships 2023 in Changwon and had secured the first pistol quota for India in the Paris Olympics. At the Asian Games last year, Singh won the gold medal with the men’s 10m air pistol team and silver in the 10m air pistol mixed team event.

This victory in Munich marks Singh’s second individual ISSF World Cup medal, following his breakthrough gold last year in Bhopal. His performance in Munich reflects his potential and readiness for bigger stages like the Paris Olympics.
