India’s campaign at the World Cup came to an end after the side lost to New Zealand in a nail-biting semi-final at Old Trafford by 18 runs.

With Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli doing the bulk of the scoring so far this tournament, the side needed their middle order to step up after all three fell today within 4 overs.

Ravindra Jadeja, who walked out to bat in the 31st over with the side reeling at 92/6 joined hands with MS Dhoni to stitch a wonderful partnership and get his side back into contention.

At a point when the required run rate trying to creep above 10 an over, Jadeja played a superb knock, scoring 79 off just 59 balls bringing his side close to the target.

This knock from him signalled a statement towards former Indian cricket and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar, who had earlier called Ravindra Jadeja a ‘bits and pieces cricketer’.

After India had lost the game a tweet immediately popped up from Manjrekar, who despite having differences with Jadeja praising his knock.

“Well played Jadeja,” read Sanjay’s tweet with a wink at the end. While one could say that Manjrekar genuinely appreciated Jadeja’s efforts, the winking emoji at the end told a different story.

Sanjay also sparked controversy in another incident today involving both KL Rahul and Dinesh Karthik. After India lost 4 quick wickets today, Manjrekar put out a tweet stating that both Rohit and Kohli were ok to give away their wickets but not Rahul and Karthik.

With Manjrekar continuing to be who he is, it looks to be seen how far the Indian fans will tolerate his tweets before some major incident occurs.
