Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar’s friendship goes way, way back. The bonding between one of Team India’s most successful and loved captains and the front face of India’s cricket scene, were the two fundamental figures of the last generation’s squad. The duo had graced the 22 yards together in thousands of matches, and the feeling of attachment they shared carried beyond their playing careers. Even to this day, Ganguly and Tendulkar maintain their amity, and an example of it was recently seen on social media.
Sachin Tendulkar recently took part in the ‘Bushfire Cricket Bash’ an all star fundraising 10-overs cricket match with former iconic cricketers that was played on 9th February for the ongoing wildfire in Australia. Tendulkar was the coach of ‘Ponting XI’ team pitting against ‘Gilchrist XI’.
Currently spending time in Australia, Tendulkar posted a photo on his official Instagram account, where he was seen enjoying the sun ona bench in Southbank, Melbourne. He captioned the picture with: “Soaking up the Sun 🌞!”
The picture soon went viral, as fans of the Men in Blue hall of fame poured in their wholesome reaction. It wasn’t too late before Ganguly, the current BCCI president joined in the fun, and had the most hilarious comment that became the main topic of the post.
The 47 year veteran told his friend: “Kisi kisi ka kismat acha hai .. chuttii manate raho 😂😇 (some people are very lucky, keep on enjoying your holiday)“
It didn’t just stop at Ganguly’s playful banter. Their former teammate and superstar spinner Harbhajan Singh also joined in the jesting, and commented: “Paji which floor are u targeting ??? 😜“
Last Sunday, Tendulkar marched back to the 22 yards 7 years after his retirement, to play an over against Australia Women’s superstar all rounder Ellyse Perry in the ‘Big Appeal’ double header at the Junction Oval sports ground in Melbourne. It was a joy for the cricketing fans to see the iconic Indian batsman facing the 2019 Women’s Cricketer of the year.
The 46 year old hit a boundary in Perry’s first delivery. Check out a clip of the event below, courtesy of the official Twitter handle of cricket.com.au.
