Indian para shooters Rubina Francis and Swaroop Unhalkar have clinched quota spots for the Paris 2024 Paralympics through the bipartite rule. This achievement adds to the excitement of the upcoming Paralympic Games, where they will represent India.

The Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) applied for two wildcard (bipartite) spots for Rubina and Swaroop.

Rubina Francis and Swarrop to appear at Paralympics

Rubina, a gold medalist in the Hangzhou Asian Games last year, competes in the women’s 10m air pistol SH1 category. She holds an impressive world ranking of No. 2. Swaroop participates in the men’s 10m air rifle SH1 event. His consistent performance in international competitions made him a strong candidate for the wildcard spot.

The decision to apply for the wildcard came after Rubina and Swaroop narrowly missed securing direct quota places. Rubina, in particular, was just a fraction of a point away from winning the quota spot.

The PCI’s proactive approach ensured that these talented para shooters got a chance to compete on the global stage.

As the countdown to the Paris Paralympics continues, Rubina and Swaroop will prepare to give their best performance, aiming to make India proud. Their journey exemplifies determination, resilience, and the spirit of overcoming challenges in pursuit of excellence.
