RP Singh believes Team India has the upper hand in the limited-overs games against Australia

The Virat Kohli-led Team India are all set to face Australia in the upcoming series, that includes three One Day Internationals, as many Twenty20 Internationals and four Tests as well. They have been undergoing the 14-day quarantine period in Sydney as well as training too. Meanwhile, former India pace bowler Rudra Pratap Singh has said that India are “far ahead” of Australia in the 50-over and T20 formats, but in Tests, they will “get a fight” from the hosts.

“In T20Is and ODIs, I don’t think there is a probability of Australia winning. Our team is doing very well, and we are far ahead of Australia in these two formats. But India will get a fight in the Test series. It is a different format and we will have to work hard and differently,” Singh told IANS.

“The chances of India winning are higher than Australia’s, but it will be an equal fight. I think the bowling departments of both teams are equal, as Australia have pacers Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins. But I think India has the upper hand in batting department,” he further shared.

Singh also said that the Indian bowling department has the ability to surprise Australia which comprised of the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and a few as well.

“Our bowling department, including Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami, is very good and it will surely surprise the Australians. Even our bench is very good. And if you look at the team balance, India is a much better balanced team,” the former left-arm seamer expressed.

While the Team India batting line-up consists of the players like Virat Kohli (wouldn’t be available for the last four Tests), Rohit Sharma (available probably for the last two Tests only), KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Mayank Agarwal, Prithvi Shaw, they have the bowlers like Bumrah, Shami, Umesh Yadav, Navdeep Saini, and Mohammed Siraj.

Alongside them, there will be Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja in the spin department. The much-awaited tour will begin with the ODI series from November 27 in Sydney.
