Rohit Sharma is one of the greatest Indian cricketers of all time, and also one of the richest. The 33 year old’s net worth has been estimated to be around ₹130 crores. But just how stupendous is that in comparison? For an instance, the Mumbai Indians skipper’s salary in the Indian Premier League is in fact, double that of the whole 18 man Pakistan cricket team earns in a whole year!

The destructive opening batsman of the Men in Blue, Rohit Sharma holds the record of the highest ODI score, a jaw dropping 264 against Sri Lanka in 2014. The ‘Hitman’ is also the only batsman to score three double centuries in ODIs, and four T20I centuries, making him one of the most valuable players of India’s milited overs squad, and is placed in the A+ grade of players in BCCI’s contract list.

However, Sharma’s feats aren’t only limited to white ball cricket. He is also the most successful IPL captain, winning the cash rich league four times with his Mumbai based franchise, since taking the role of captaincy in 2013.

During the 2020 Indian Premier League auctions, MI had retained their talisman for an astounding ₹15 crore. What’s truly fascinating about Sharma’s whopping IPL salary is, it amounts to double the annual income of the whole 18 player team of Pakistan.

In a list of all the centrally contracted players released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) back in May, the earning brackets of the three grades of Pakistan’s cricketers were recorded. Placed in Grade A of PCB’s contract list, the Pakistan limited overs skipper Babar Azam, along with Azhar Ali and Shaheen Shah Afridi will receive an annual salary of ₹60,92,050 lakh each.

Six more players placed in Grade B, including the likes of Asad Shafiq, Mohammad Rizwan, Haris Sohail and Mohammad Abbas, will earn ₹41,54,193, followed by six more players of Grade C with an income of ₹30,46,398.

Summing that all up, the total annual salary of all the Pakistani players amounts to ₹7,39,42,275, less than half of what Sharma’s IPL salary of ₹15 crore, and almost equal to what he earns in his annual contract with BCCI.
