Rohit Sharma was named as the captain as there were 6 Indian stars who were in the lineup as ICC announced their Team Of The Tournament for the T20 World Cup 2024 on July 1, Monday. 12 players from a total of 4 teams made it to the team of the tournament with Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel were the other Indians in the team apart from Rohit Sharma.
Following Afghanistan’s impressive journey to the semi-finals, three of their players have been selected for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 team. The selection panel included commentators Harsha Bhogle, Ian Bishop, Kass Naidoo, and ICC General Manager of Cricket Wasim Khan.

Rohit Sharma, who captained India to their second T20 World Cup victory, was picked as the skipper of the side. Sharma finished as the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament with 257 runs in eight innings. His standout performance was a 92-run knock against Australia, followed by a crucial 57 in the semi-final against the same team. Rohit would then announce his retirement from T20Is.
