Rohit Sharma reveals which Indian cricketer is the best footballer and what position he plays at!

Team India opener Rohit Sharma has recently been chosen as the brand ambassador of La Liga, and at an event in Mumbai today, the hard hitting batsman was all open about the growth of the beautiful game in the country. He also talked about the influence of football on his teammates, their hairstyles, and how good they are in the sport. He revealed some interesting facts, even which cricketer is the best with the ball on his feet.

The Mumbai Indians skipper said that he is a regular watcher of football matches since he was a kid. He also spoke about his favourite team and club, which are Real Madrid and Zinedine Zidane.

Talking about his compatriots who follow the sport closely, Rohit revealed the best footballer from the squad.

“There are lots of them actually, we have got Zlatan Ibrahimovic in our squad as well, that’s Ishant Sharma. M S Dhoni is the number one football player.”

Superbly skilled with the bat, Mahi is also well known for his prowess in football. Co-own  Chennaiyin FC in the ISL, the 38 year old participated in a charity match last year, playing for ‘All Stars Football Club’ along with Bollywood icons Abhishek Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor.

Talking about the involvement of football with cricket, Rohit said that before every match, a game of football is a regular warm up drill, and the right handed batsman also revealed that he plays as a midfielder.

“I love playing as a midfielder during warm-up matches because that’s the most challenging spot. Football is played as a warm-up because it brings us together as a team makes our body active.” he told reporters.

The first ever non-footballer to be chosen as a brand ambassador for La Liga, Rohit was jolly about the development of the sport in the country.

Rohit continued- “Over the course of the past five years, we have witnessed a significant growth in the interest for football in India.”
