India’s limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma has recently said that his most special moment with wicket-keeper-batsman MS Dhoni will always be his first ODI double century. Rohit scored the first of his three ODI double centuries on November 2, 2013, in Bengaluru against mighty Australia.
In a recent tweet, he shared his best moment. “Best moment with MS (Dhoni) was my first double hundred, he was batting with me and we had a long partnership,” said Rohit in a video which he posted as a part of the question and answer session on Twitter with fans on the Friendship Day.
While opening the batting, Rohit Sharma almost played till the end where he hit 12 fours and a whopping 16 sixes in his remarkable knock. He shared a 112-run opening stand with the opener Shikhar Dhawan and then a stunning 72-run stand for the third wicket with the left-hand batsman Suresh Raina.
However, it was the stunning 167-run partnership with the then India captain MS Dhoni in which Rohit truly punished all the Australian bowlers made every fan happy. He amassed 114 runs in that partnership off just 59 balls whereas MS Dhoni himself scored 62 runs off 38 balls.
However, that was only the third time of a player scoring a double century in men’s ODIs and the previous two was scored by none other than batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar and former flambyont India opener Virender Sehwag.
Meanwhile, within a year later, Rohit Sharma smashed 264 against Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens to become the only batsman to have smashed two double hundreds in ODIs. Not only this, but he then smashed his third double hundred with an unbeaten 208 against Sri Lanka in 2017 in Mohali also.
Currently, all the players have been eyeing to take part in the 13th edition of Indian Premier League which is scheduled to take place in the UAE from September 19 to November 10.
