Rohit Sharma was stunned and shocked when one of the fans was slammed on the ground by police for entering the playing area during the IND vs BAN warm-up match ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. He has broken his silence on the matter a day before the Men in Blue’s campaign opener against Ireland on June 5.

Rohit Sharma speaks about players’ security

A fan breached the security and ran onto the ground, attempting to interact with the Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma. The security officials at the venue tackled the fan, leading to a situation that raised concerns about the treatment of fans.

Rohit Sharma, known for his sportsmanship and respect for the game, took a stand on this issue. He sent a strong message against pitch intrusion, emphasizing the need for fans to respect the security of the players and the rules of the venues. He urged the officials to go easy on the fan, showcasing his empathy towards the cricket-loving public.

Rohit’s appeal was not just about one incident. It was a call for understanding and respecting the laws of different countries. He stated, “See, first of all, I would say that no one should intrude into the ground. This is not right. And this question was also not right, because we don’t want to promote this thing that who is running and coming to the ground.”

He further added, “I think, players’ security is important. Similarly, the security of the people outside is also important. We are playing cricket, yes, but for the people sitting outside, it is important for them to understand that there are rules and regulations for every country. It is very important to follow them and understand them.”
