Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma, along with three other Maharastra players, was honoured by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for their remarkable victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Team India secured a thrilling win against South Africa by 7 runs in a tense final held in Barbados, clinching the T20 World Cup title. The victory parade in Mumbai resonated with immense pride and excitement.

Following the triumphant return to India, the stars of Mumbai cricket were invited to the Vidhan Bhavan. Here, the Maharashtra government bestowed honours upon them. The felicitated players included Rohit Sharma (Team India captain), Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Before entering the assembly, CM Shinde personally met and greeted the World Cup winners at his residence in Mumbai. During the ceremony, he presented them with shawls and idols of Lord Ganesha, symbolizing congratulations and blessings.

Rohit Sharma, overwhelmed by the love and support from fans during the victory parade, expressed its significance for both the team and the entire nation. He emphasized that this victory was particularly special as he led the team, making it a proud moment in his career.

This marked Rohit’s second T20 World Cup win, but it held even greater significance. Reflecting on the past, he recalled the 2007 World Cup, but this victory, with him at the helm, was truly extraordinary.
